About TRD

Treatment Resistant Depression is simply an episode of depression that does not respond to typical treatments such as psychotherapy or medications. Studies report that as many as three out of every 10 patients in primary care with depression do not respond to any of the treatment options they’ve tried.*
People experiencing TRD may have tried a variety of treatments or therapies for their depression. These treatments may include different types of antidepressants, combinations of medications, psychotherapy, or other approaches. No treatment seems to ease their depression.
Forty percent of patients do not respond to the first antidepressant they try. Additionally, one out of every five depressed patients stops taking their antidepressant medication because of side effects.**
